The end of the school year is just a few months away, and time can fly by quickly. Finishing the year on a high note is important, but we understand that students and parents (and even teachers) may have some struggles in the coming months. Here are a few tips you can use to make the end of the school year easier on you and your children.
Guard Your Time
Now that we have come through almost an entire school year, you don’t want to start losing focus now. Create and stick to schedules so that you and your family know about important events like test days, project due dates, fun activity days, and more. Try to adhere to your schedule as closely as possible. As much as you can, don’t let the stress of the school year’s end intrude on family time or recreational activities that can relax you and your children.
Plan For the Summer Ahead of Time
Moving into the summer months without a clear plan for your children can lead to a lack of routine that makes the new school year more difficult. It is easier to adjust to next year’s grade jump when kids come off of a steady summer routine. Also, try to involve your child in summer programs, reading clubs, or other activities that can keep their brains learning and absorbing information. This can help them maintain a scholarly drive that may pay off when they return to school.
Find Community Outreach Projects
At Brooklyn Charter School, our goal is to create active, compassionate citizens who interact with their communities to make the world a better place. You can enhance this sense of community service by joining your child in weekly community enrichment programs throughout the summer. Maybe you’d like to volunteer at a soup kitchen or assist with food drives for charity. Whatever you feel is right for your child, serving can give them a meaningful connection to their community and teach them the importance of kindness.
We hope these next few weeks will be full of more joy than stress at the coming schedule changes. If you would like to speak to us or have questions about next year’s schedule, contact our office here.
