The Brooklyn Charter School received a Citation from Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams on May 12, 2017 acknowledging the school as being the first elementary school to receive its charter by the New York City Department of Education, serving children from grades kindergarten through fifth grade for the last 16 years.

The Brooklyn Charter School was recognized by New York City Community Board 3’s Education & Youth Committee for “BedStuy’s Best of 2017” as the Most Improved K-8 School in Bedford Stuyvesant Broooklyn. This award was given based on statistical growth based on 2015-16 school data.
